![]() I know DVDs are a thing of the past, but I want to know if anyone has had a similar problem and how to solve it. The reason I want to read DVDs on Windows 10 is because I want a specific, Windows-only software to rip the DVDs. I also have performed a clean install of Windows 10 (for a different reason - see post history if curious) and tried all of the registry edits that I have seen online. Restart the computer and Windows should auto-detect the drive and reinstall the drivers for you. Expand CD/DVD-ROM Drives, then right-click on the device and click Uninstall. In addition, there does not seem to be anything unusual with the device on Device Manager - in fact, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and found no difference. You can reinstall the drivers for the CD/DVD drive by going to Start, Control Panel, System and Security, System and then clicking on Device Manager. The strangest part about this is that when I enter Disk Management, I can find the DVD there, next to the CD-ROM category - it shows the title of the DVD plus healthy partition. ![]() I know it is not a hardware problem, because I verified that it functions on Ubuntu 20.04. I am about to purchase an external DVD drive to read the DVDs, but I wanted to get some input from r/Windows10 to see if you all had any ideas about how I can fix this. So recently I have been wanting to rip some of my DVD library (for personal use, of course), but for some reason the DVD drive on my laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad T430) is not reading the discs which I put in. Turns out that all I needed to do was change the drive letter - this was why it appeared in Disk management but not in file explorer. EDIT: Solved! Thanks to both u/Tomxyz1 and u/gabethum for their help.
